Shoreline Blows Out the Orcas at Home, 87-68

Shoreline, WA – Coming off A rough loss on the road to Skagit Valley, The Dolphins looked to rebound for their conference home opener against Whatcom.

Firing Out The Gates

Everything was falling for Shoreline to start the game, jumping out ahead to an early 20-6 lead over Whatcom in the first 8 minutes. Whatcom put a stop to the Dolphins offensive onslaught however, going on their own 28-12 run to end the half up 34-32. For Whatcom, Hayden Creswell scored 14 on 3-5 3PM. Luke Guzman added 6 Pts with 4 rebounds, 2 steals and a block to fuel Whatcom’s comeback. The Orca’s ended the half shooting 43.8% from the field and 44% from Three.


Troy Nickel led the way for the Dolphins, scoring 14 going 6-9 from the field and 2-3 from behind the arc. Joel Amaro, Jonah Coppock, and Maximus Holliman combined for a total of 13 rebounds to finish a solid first half.

Predator Becomes The Prey

The Dolphin’s exploded for 55 points in the 2nd half, leaving the Orca’s defense in a trance. Troy Nickel continued to run circles on the Orca’s, shooting an efficient 5-7 from the field and 3-4 from 3. Daniel Wondie came off the bench and added 10 of his own points, going 4-5 from the field and 2-2 from 3. In the paint, the Dolphin’s played some old school bully ball. Sherrell McCullum Jr added 10 points in only 8 minutes of play, drawing in 6 free-throws as well. Jonah Coppock added 8 Points all down low. Maximus Holliman continued to push and finesse his way into the paint, adding 6 points of his own.

The Orca’s offense fell flat for the 2nd half. Hayden Creswell was the only starter for Whatcom to score in the 2nd half with 4 points. The bench was the spark that ignited Whatcom’s offense. Makai Bloomfield came off the bench in 13 minutes and dropped 19 on 8-15 shooting going 3-5 from 3. Misael Perez scored 8 points in 9 minutes for the Orca’s in what was a relatively quiet half for them.



The Dolphin’s ended the 2nd half shooting an efficient 58% from the field, and 71% from 3. The Orca’s struggled and shot a poultry 33% from the field, and 36% from three.



The Dolphins improve to 1-1 in conference play and look to continue their momentum against Edmonds. Whatcom falls to 1-1 and looks to bounce back Vs Olympic.
